據外媒IGN報導指出，2018年由 Sunrise 與傳奇影業籌備《機動戰士鋼彈》的真人版電影已經有了最新消息，預計將會由《金剛：骷髏島》導演 Jordan Vogt-Roberts 負責執導，Netflix發行。
《機動戰士鋼彈》將推出真人版電影的消息，最早是在美國洛杉磯舉辦的「Anime Expo 2018」上公布。經過三年的沉寂之後，官方終於有了新消息，確定由《金剛：骷髏島》導演 Jordan Vogt-Roberts 負責執導、並會在 Netflix 上播出。
