微軟創辦人比爾蓋茲（Bill Gates）與妻子梅琳達蓋茲（Melinda Gates）在美國當地時間 3 日下午，共同發表聲明結束 27 年婚姻，因為「我們不再相信能以夫妻的身份，在生命的下個階段共同成長。」

雙方透過 Twitter 社群媒體發表共同簡短聲明。

在對於我們的關係深思熟慮且盡了努力後，我們做出決定結束婚姻的決定。

過去 27 年，我們養育了 3 名令人驕傲的孩子並建立了基金會，在世界各地使所有民眾都可以過著健康、生產力的生活。我們會持續分享對於任務的信念，且一同延續基金會的工作；但是我們不再相信能以夫妻的身份，在生命的下個階段共同成長。

當我們在開始探索這段新的生活同時，懇求將空間與隱私留給我們的家庭。

After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in the mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.
